Democracy vs Dictatorship Free Essays
I choose democracy as a more efficient type of government over dictatorship for these three simple reasons right her equal rights for all people, political freedom, and freedom of choice. I know you as a reader notice how every reason has the word freedom in it. This is because with a dictatorship there is no freedom, which show the ovbious reason why democracy is suprior. We will write a custom essay sample on Democracy vs Dictatorship or any similar topic only for you Order Now Democracy is a system of government in which political authority is held by the people. Democracies typically feature constitutional governments with majority rules. This is to keep they peace among the people ââ¬Å"they equally voted for whoever or whateverâ⬠. Freedom of expression in a dictatorship doesnââ¬â¢t exist. With a dictator if you disargee with him/she you know that your better off not saying anything, because with a militarylistic type of ruler most likely your either imprsioned or killed. Freedom of expression is important mainly because if you only have one view of something how could it not be one sided, without oppions youââ¬â¢ll never come up with a plan that suits everybody that can be effected. Political freedom is way be on important. Not being able to choose who runs the place where you live is like paying rent for someone esleââ¬â¢s apartment. You have no say in what goes on wither it be about war, taxes, and even sometimes rules. Can you even picture life without your freedom of choice? This means you dont get to choice where you live, jobs, what you want to be, and etc. ââ¬Å"Shootâ⬠if your dictator doesnââ¬â¢t want you to speak english anymore and you donââ¬â¢t know any other language then you just dont talk. Can you imagine living like that? So I conclude that freedom of choice, political freedom, and freedom of expression are some major reasons for the supriority of an democracy over an dictatorship. If you donââ¬â¢t believe that itââ¬â¢s better then go to Cuba and live with Castro and see how you like it. Then write me and tell me how you feel about, because your under his rule now if he doesnt want you to leave then you can even come back and tell how you feel. Two Shells and Some Fur free essay sample
The clicking sound of her water bottle never bothers me much while I work on the computer. I enjoy the company. Meika Minyanou, or Moe, is a four and a half year old, spunky, little fur ball of a ferret. She resides in a triple floored wire cage with a hanging ball that has a few tears from her restless younger years. This lovely complex stands all of about two feet from my work desk, and I am often found pitching research paper topics or possible solutions for chemistry sets at her. Granted, I tend to get a muted response, however, her moral support suffices. I adopted Moe from a ferret rescue at nine months old. It did not take me long to learn (as a result of multiple scratches) when to cut her nails, the pain was dulled by my affection for her. Keeping her as a new member of the family has been no easy task. We will write a custom essay sample on Two Shells and Some Fur or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I have a schedule for when to bathe her, clean out her cage, replace her litter pan, wash her blanket, take her to the vet, trim her nails, clean her ears and replace her bedding. Despite the juggling caring for her and my school work, and job as a computer maintenance person for African embassies during the summer in addition to my year round work as a graphic designer, the amount of work does not deter my drive to take care of something I love. I feel the same way about everything I throw myself into including coaching flag football, tutoring, and being an assistant crew chief of the drama clubs lighting crew. While the responsibility is great, putting my all into all of each activity in order to fulfill my duties is extremely important to me. Whenever I take on any job, I ensure it is done well. I especially recall the one time she fell ill. My heart broke. She wouldnt climb up the walls of her cage when someone passed, she wouldnt start her little Dance of Joy when let loose, and her food bowl went untouched for hours. Day after day, I could be found scrubbing down her cage and viciously mauling every fly, mosquito, or ant that dared sneak its way into my house and near her cage. The extra work did not bother me at all because I knew it would pay off when she would finally get up and chase after her little green ball. My affection for my exotic fur ball doesnt end there, as I also have two red-eared slider, Sheldon and Squirtle that were not planned adoptions. While walking down Canal street in Chinatown, a man holding them in a small aquarium was running up and down the street, the water sloshing around and the two of them helpless to steady themselves. It both angered and saddened me to see them treated so carelessly. The next time he passed, I stopped him and promptly handed over a twenty for the pair. I knew they were better off as an impromptu purchase with a forever home guarantee than suffering injuries due to careless ignorance. When presented with the opportunity to make something better, I make the effort to do so. Much like the turtles adoption, my flag football coaching position came from going to one practice, seeing the disorder, and knowing I could make the team better organized and well disciplined. Moe, Squirtle, and Sheldon remain as my pride and joy. I am as anxious and uneasy as any new parent when any of them are sick, and equally as elated when they show signs of progress, such as when Sheldon started eating bigger pellets and Moe was successfully litter box trained. As ecstatic as I am talking about my pets, I am equally excited about the endless possibilities found in scientific research. The more I learn in chemistry classes, the most I want to be in the field learning about and developing research projects that may pair up unlikely things, such as two turtles and a ferret, that work well together under the umbrella of a grand idea. Over the course of my high school years, the difficulty in my classes have increased but that has not at all deterred my drive in learning the most I can about any subject, from African Studies to Chemistry, and finding real world applications for the knowledge. Just as I would with my ferret, before I feed her a new brand of food, I do my research and find out what is in it, where it is made, and how often she should be fed. With any project that comes my way, I find out as much as possible in order to understand the topic, allowing me the ability to have discussions without having to reference index cards or sounding like a text book.

The Inspector is teaching Essay Example For Students
The Inspector is teaching Essay In the play the Inspector conveys Priestly message that everyone should take responsibility instead of pushing it aside. He expresses this clearly when he interrogates each of them. A nice little promising life there, I thought, and a nasty mess somebodys made of it. Here the inspector is referring again to our responsibility and hoping to make characters feel guilty. When he says somebodys he is referring to the Birlings and how their lack of thought has led to the untimely death of Eva Smith. Towards the end of the interrogations he again refers to responsibility. Youll be able to divide the responsibility between you when Ive gone. The inspector has realised that only some of the characters have understood his views and opinions on responsibility. He is therefore saying that they should consider their actions before the real inspector pays them a visit. According to Ouspenkskys theory of time if the Birlings do not change their attitude towards responsibility they are destined to face the same situation all over again. Before the real inspector comes they have a chance to think about what they have done. We will write a custom essay on The Inspector is teaching specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now So the fake Inspector is trying to discover which of the characters has a social conscience. Priestleys views are that of the inspector, which is why he behaves and acts as he does, this is seen throughout the play and is cleverly incorporated to enhance the theme of responsibility in each character. Mr. Birling is a selfish man who cares only for himself. He refuses to give his workers a pay rise and this leads to a strike. Eva was one of the leaders participating in the strike and Birling eventually sacks her without any care what so ever. This seen when he says I only did what any employer might have done. Birling fails to see that he has done anything wrong by sacking her and dismisses any suggestions that he had any influence involved in Evas death. It seems as if the inspector was prepared for Birlings selfish and arrogant attitude. He tries to point out to Birling that it was he who started the downward spiral in Eva Smiths life. Still I cant accept responsibility. If we were all responsible for everything that happened to everybody wed had anything to do with, it would be very awkward wouldnt it? Birling is an example of a typical Edwardian Upper class man. He feels because he was within his rights it is not necessary for him to feel any guilt what so ever. He fails to understand the message of responsibility the Inspector is striving to deliver and so when he is interrogated by the real inspector he will not do anything differently and will therefore face another repeated circle of events. Mrs. Birling reacts indifferently to the news about the death. She is the person who denied Eva Smith help when she most needed it. Mrs Birling runs a charity shop, but denied Eva any help although she was heard to say Yes. Weve done a great deal of useful work in helping deserving cases. She overruled her committee and rejected Evas cause because at first Eva called herself Miss Birling. She used this name because she was carrying Erics child. But Mrs. Birling does not know this and fails to see and understand what has happened. She is unwilling to accept any responsibility for Evas death. The inspector asks Mrs Birling who she blames, she replies First, the girl herself. This is rather ironic considering it was her and her familys interferences with her that resulted in her death. But she is too preoccupied with her own affairs to see that. Secondly, I blame the young man who was the father of the child she was going to have. The Inspector allows Mrs. Birling to dig herself into an even bigger hole when she unwittingly blames the father of the child (Eric). She is to blame as much as her husband but she does not learn her lesson either and falls into the same circle as her husband.

Early Racism in Disney Movies Essay Essay Example
Early Racism in Disney Movies Essay Essay Example Early Racism in Disney Movies Essay Paper Early Racism in Disney Movies Essay Paper Disneyââ¬â¢s early work has ever had a intimation of racism in them. I late watched Disneyââ¬â¢s Fantasia released in 1942 was edited and refashion because of a really racist scene. I watched a scene where there are many colourful centaurs. male and female ; they are larking through like a wood. When the lady centaurs notice the males there are small baby Cupids that come down and are acquiring them all dolled up for the male centaurs. Every male is matched up with their matching colour centaurs the scene ends with every centaur and their mate flirtation and holding a ball. The portion that was cut out was one small black centaur a miss with barrettes in her hair. She was pass overing the hooves of the other centaurs and brushing their hair while the small babe Cupids. she had no mate she was merely a small retainer. ( Cite here ) We all know the narrative of Pocahontas ; a batch of people merely know the Disney version. The film does hold some truth to it but is decidedly racist. John Smith a settler coming to happen the new universe. a really arresting. sort immature adult male. ( Cite # 4 ) going with his work forces and of class Governor Radcliff. with his ugly small pug and really opinionative. a adult male who is non afraid to portion his ethical motives to the universe. He was likely the most racist character mentioning to Native American Americans as barbarians and barbarian. and the lone ground he is coming to the new universe is because he wants gold and to go affluent. ( cite # 4 ) now this portion of history is dead on. the colonists did non desire to do friends and get down a new life in a new topographic point. they wanted gold and land. and they didnââ¬â¢t attention for native Americans to much. ( Cite here ) There is even a vocal called ââ¬Å"Savagesâ⬠a really really racialist vocal a bout indigens. Like it wasnââ¬â¢t adequate to name them barbarians they go on to state things like ââ¬Å"Theyââ¬â¢re non like you and me. Which means they must be evil We must sound the membranophones of war! â⬠because indigens did non talk or dress like the colonists ; but thatââ¬â¢s non all they call them ââ¬Å"Redskin Devilsâ⬠and state ââ¬Å"theyââ¬â¢re hardly even humanâ⬠with Radcliff stating things like ââ¬Å"What can you anticipate. From foul small pagans? Hereââ¬â¢s what you get when races are diverse ( Thatââ¬â¢s right ) . Their skinââ¬â¢s a beastly ruddy. Theyââ¬â¢re merely good when dead. Theyââ¬â¢re varmint. as I said. â⬠( Cite # 4 ) this vocal is a vocal I sang as child neer cognizing what I was singing. like it was so incorrect for a civilization to be different. is this what Disney is learning our kids? That anything that is different can non be trusted or even given a opportunity. Disney films have ever had racism in their films but the one film that had the most obvious racism would hold to be Disneyââ¬â¢s Song of the South. The Song of the South. one of Disneyââ¬â¢s most controversial films of all time made. racism. stereotyping. and ignorance galore. The Song of the South was aired at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Georgia in 1946. over 64 old ages ago. ( Cite # 1 ) Walt Disneyââ¬â¢s life imperium wasnââ¬â¢t making so good finically and decided he wanted to a film based on a childhood book he read as a child. ( Cite # 2 ) a narrative about an old Negro. who tells narratives to a immature white boy the narratives of uncle Remus ( Cite # 2 ) . The life was based on narratives told by an old African American adult male. Uncle Remus about a Mr. Rabbit and Mr. Fox. the same secret plan. as the book with really similar characters. and the same message. The message that a batch of people got was that bondage was being glorified. The angriest was the NAACP ( National Association for the Advancement of Colored People ) they were the most pained. They had many concerns with the full movie ; they didnââ¬â ¢t want people believing that this how bondage was. ( Cite # 3 ) In this film Uncle Remus. played by James Baskett ( cite # 1 ) was an old Black who lives in Georgia on a plantation. He is non like normal slaves. he comes and goes as he pleases. and he loves his life on the plantation. He sings vocals like Let the Rain Pour Down with wordss like ââ¬Å"Let the rain pour down. allow the cold air current blow Gon na remain right here in the place I know ( Trouble wing off wing off ) . When youââ¬â¢re achinââ¬â¢ with the misââ¬â¢ry. and youââ¬â¢re old and grey. ( headinââ¬â¢ . headinââ¬â¢ ) Then youââ¬â¢d better be grateful that He allow you remain ; â⬠which means that even though they made us come here and make this difficult work we still should be grateful for what they do really allow us hold. like a topographic point to remain. ( Cite # 1 ) to add even more fuel to the fire Disney thought it would be a good thought to premier this film in Atlanta. a really unintegrated metropolis at the clip. the stars of the film James Brackett. uncle Remus and Hattie McDaniel his married woman Aunty Tempy would non even be allowed to sit in the same seats as the white very important persons. Their ain Governor made statements like ââ¬Å"I was raised among niggas and I understand them. I want to see them treated reasonably and I want them to hold justness in the tribunals. But I want to cover with the nigga this manner: he must come to my back door. take off his chapeau and state. ââ¬ËYes. sirâ⬠( Bernstein 233 ) . ( Cite # 2 ) even still Disney claims they were non in a racialist province of head. ( Cite # 2 ) this film will travel down in history as likely the most blantaly racialist film Disney has of all time made. Disney does non hold anything to state about theses lifes. they have become one of those things people merely donââ¬â¢t talk about anymore. Even though a batch of these racialist films are still popular today. and are being remade and rereleased. Disney is still really successful concern even with these really unsmooth spots in the beginning and bulk of kids and parents in the universe truly do bask Disney. but does that intend we should merely ignore their errors and stereotyped films. should we merely pretend that these films have offended and will go on to piquing races without any concern for people they offend?

Location and Function of the Pons in the Human Brain
Location and Function of the Pons in the Human Brain In Latin, the word pons literally means bridge. The pons is a portion of the hindbrain that connects the cerebral cortex with the medulla oblongata. It also serves as a communications and coordination center between the two hemispheres of the brain. As a part of the brainstem, the pons helps in the transferring of nervous system messages between various parts of the brain and the spinal cord. Function The pons is involved in several functions of the body including: ArousalAutonomic function: breathing regulationRelaying sensory information between the cerebrum and cerebellumSleep Several cranial nerves originate in the pons. The largest cranial nerve, the trigeminal nerve aids in facial sensation and chewing. The abducens nerve assists in eye movement. The facial nerve enables facial movement and expressions. It also aids in our sense of taste and swallowing. The vestibulocochlear nerve aids in hearing and helps us maintain our equilibrium. The ponsà helps to regulate the respiratory system by assisting the medulla oblongata in controlling breathing rate. The pons is also involved in the control of sleep cycles and the regulation of deep sleep. The pons activates inhibitory centers in the medulla in order to inhibit movement during sleep. Another primary function of the pons is to connect the forebrain with the hindbrain. It connects the cerebrum to the cerebellum through the cerebral peduncle. The cerebral peduncle is the anterior portion of the midbrain that consists of large nerve tracts. The pons relays sensory information between the cerebrum and cerebellum. Functions under the control of the cerebellum includeà fine motor coordination and control, balance, equilibrium, muscle tone, fine motor coordination, and a sense of body position. Location Directionally, the pons is superior to the medulla oblongata and inferior to the midbrain. Sagittally, it is anterior to the cerebellum and posterior to the pituitary gland. The fourth ventricle runs posteriorly to the pons and medulla in the brainstem. Pons Injury Damage to the pons can result in serious problems as this brain area is important for connecting areas of the brain that control autonomic functions and movement. Injury to the pons may result in sleep disturbances, sensory problems, arousal dysfunction and coma. Locked-in syndrome is a condition resulting from damage to nerve pathways in the pons that connect the cerebrum, spinal cord, and cerebellum. The damage disrupts voluntary muscle control leading to quadriplegia and the inability to speak. Individuals with locked-in syndrome are consciously aware of what is going on around them but are unable to move any parts of their bodies except for their eyes and eyelids. They communicate by blinking or moving their eyes. Locked-in syndrome is most commonly caused by decreased blood flow to the pons or bleeding in the pons. These symptoms are often the result of blood clot or stroke. Damage to the myelin sheath of nerve cells in the pons results in a condition called central pontine myelinolysis. The myelin sheath is an insulating layer of lipids and proteins that help neurons conduct nerve impulses more efficiently. Central pontine myelinolysis can result in difficulty swallowing and speaking, as well as paralysis. A blockage of the arteries that supply blood to the pons can cause a type of stroke known as lacunar stroke. This type of stroke occurs deep within the brain and typically only involves a small portion of the brain.à Individuals suffering from a lacunar stroke may experience numbness, paralysis, loss of memory,à difficulty in speaking or walking, coma, or death. Divisions of the Brain Forebrain: encompasses the cerebral cortex and brain lobes.Midbrain: connects the forebrain to the hindbrain.Hindbrain: regulates autonomic functions and coordinates movement.

Recycling Plastic Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Recycling Plastic - Assignment Example may not have been recycled as much can be attributed to the lack of specialized containers for plastics being insisted upon like there are special containers for glass bottles or even metallic bottles. The presence of such bins would act as a reminder to people to separate the plastics from the rest of the trash hence making not only recycling possible but increasing the number of plastics being recycled in the country (Kreiger, et al 2011). The other reason based on research that plastics are not recycled as much is because there are different types of plastics making it hard for people to know which plastics are supposed to be recycled or are able to be recycled and which ones cannot (Esterl, 2011). An example is having destroyed electronic equipment like a mobile phone that needs to be discarded, and then there are empty juice containers and water bottles as well as empty containers previously holding hair or body lotion and oils and plastics cutlery. All these are different types of plastics and people get confused as to what to put aside as plastic. They therefore end up throwing away some other types of plastics such as the electronic gadgets and hence this continues to reduce the amount of plastics being recycled. Talks by Mike Biddle have revealed that it is possible to recycle all types of plastics and hence people should not fear about sorting out their plastic trash and separating it. Anything that is made from plastic should be completely separated from the trash and when it reaches the recycling plant, the experts can be able to sort them out and follow Biddleââ¬â¢s 30 processes to extract the plastic and eliminate the impurities (Biddle, 2011). This revelation should act to increase the amount of plastics being recycled and reduce the amount being wasted for lack of knowledge. Research by Viscusi, Huber & Bell, (2012) reveals that in order to also increase the amount of plastics to be recycled, each home should be encouraged to have separate trash
